Typically after each session it will feel like a sunburn in the area of the tattoo for about a week. The only restrictions you have post treatment is to stay out of oceans or lakes for 3-4 days. Other than that you can just apply any petroleum based ointment for a week after each session.
Typically black and red ink takes about 6-9 session realistically and sometimes more in rare instances. Color ink such as blue, green, yellow etc. can take 10+ sessions to fully remove. If you have a multiple darkest colors (closest to black) will come off first.
There are some risk with removing a tattoo however they're very low risk when using the right laser and with proper training. Those risk include pain and discomfort during the treatment, hyper/hypo pigmentation which is skin discoloration (roughly 2% risk) and scaring (less than 1% risk). There are other risk which you can read more about here.
The longer you wait in between your tattoo removal sessions the fewer sessions you will need. The less time you wait the faster your tattoo will come off. However, by coming more frequently you'll spend 40% more money, and only speed up the process by maybe 10% (roughly). We wait a minimum of 4 weeks between sessions but we recommend 6 to 8 weeks.
The short answer is no, full sleeves or dime size tattoos can take the same amount of time to remove. However, where the tattoo is located on your body, the color of ink, and density of ink are all very important factors in terms of the number of sessions when removing your tattoo.
