How many sessions will your tattoo take?

There are a lot of factors that determine the total number of sessions that someone will need, however the average range is 4 to 9 sessions. We try our best to remove all tattoo under 8 sessions but some tattoos can be more difficult than other to remove. Don’t worry though after the 8th session the remaining sessions will be 50% OFF

after the 8th session the remaining sessions will be 50% OFF

How often can I do a session?

The minimum time in between sessions is 4 weeks but we recommend 6 weeks between sessions. The longer you wait, the fewer sessions you’ll need. There is no maximum amount of time either. The average professional tattoo will take approximately a year to remove.

Any questions?

Can I get another tattoo on top of the area after it is light enough?2021-10-25T15:42:00-04:00

Yes, once you and your tattoo artist are happy with the progress, a new tattoo can be put right over the same area as the older tattoo. I do recommend lightening it as much as possible so you can get a more detailed cover up tattoo. The last thing you want is another dark tattoo that you do not like.

What can I do to speed up the process?2021-10-25T15:39:30-04:00

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the best way to speed up the removal process. Eating a well-balanced diet, drinking a lot of water and exercise will have a positive outcome on the process.

What will it feel like after the session?2021-10-25T15:39:00-04:00

The discomfort from the procedure ends as soon as the session is over. Some people report no discomfort after the session while others say it feels like a slight sunburn for a day or so. Itching is very common, especially after the second session or so due to the histamines that are released by the body in response to the laser treatment and the breaking up of the ink. Itching usually lasts a day or so and Benadryl can be used to counteract the itching.

How long is each session?2021-10-25T15:38:37-04:00

Many of today’s lasers fire at very fast rates so covering the total area of the tattoo is very quick. For example, our PICO4 laser fires 10 times per second, so as fast as you can move the wand it is hitting all of the ink in its path. A credit card size tattoo on average takes about 7 seconds to complete. The larger the tattoo, the more time is required to cover the area.

Are there certain areas on the body that clear ink faster or slower than others?2021-10-25T15:37:57-04:00

The location of the tattoo on the body, does in fact affect how quickly the ink will clear the skin. More vascularized area, like the head and neck will clear the broken ink particles much quicker than say a tattoo on a foot that is far away from the heart. The closer to the heart and above the heart the quicker the clearance. Due to longer circulation routes and gravity, tattoos at the ends of extremities can take a bit longer to clear.

Do amateur tattoos get removed quicker than ones done at a shop?2021-10-25T15:37:17-04:00

Amateur done tattoos usually come out quicker due to the fact that professional tattoo ink is rarely used and the person putting in the ink usually does not have professional training. Most homemade tattoos do not contain the heavy ink density of a professionally done tattoo.

Does the laser burn the ink out of my skin?2021-10-25T15:36:41-04:00

There is no thermal energy coming from the laser, so it cannot burn you or the ink out. The PICO lasers of today use light and sound waves to break up the ink into small particles that can be consumed by the body.

What laser do you guys use?2021-10-25T15:36:01-04:00

There are several different brands and technology lasers on the market today.  The latest is the new Pico technology. It has more energy with short pulse bursts and is much more skin sparing than the older Nano technology.   The key differences today amongst the PICO lasers is the amount of energy they can produce and how many wavelength settings it can use. Some lasers work just on blues and greens, some on just red and black and others have all the wavelength settings to remove all colors. You can read more about our laser here

What happens if I change my mind after buying a package?2021-10-14T10:02:22-04:00

Package are completely refundable. Any unused sessions in a package can be refunded if you’re not a good candidate for tattoo removal, you change your mind, you move, you get a cover up or for any other reason.

What counts as an “area”?2021-10-14T10:04:04-04:00

Basically whatever you can cover with you hand without moving it counts as an area. So if you have two tattoo one of you left arm and one on your right arm; that would be two areas. If you have four finger tattoos on one hand that counts as one area.

How many sessions does it take to remove my tattoo?2021-10-14T10:06:04-04:00

Understandably everyone wants to know the answer to this question. However, every tattoo and person is different and we just don’t know until you start the process. Sometimes easy looking tattoos are difficult and difficult tattoo are easier. About 85% of our clients will fall between 6-9 sessions for professional tattoos and 1-5 sessions for homemade tattoos.

Can I pay as I go?2021-10-14T10:16:04-04:00

Yes, you can pay session by session whenever you come into the TakeTatt Hut.

Does TakeTatt have financing for packages?2022-12-08T11:22:44-05:00

No, we do not offer any in-house financing however we do accept AfterPay. Afterpay will allow you to make 4 interest free payments over 8 weeks. To see if you qualify you can visit: https://www.afterpay.com/

How painful is tattoo removal?2021-10-14T11:55:45-04:00

Everyone has different pain tolerances, but we’ve not had anyone not be able to do it. Also the process is less than 20 seconds for the average tattoo. We also use local cryogen to numb the area which we have found works best and no other tattoo removal place is doing (that we know of). =)

What are the possible side effects of tattoo removal?2021-10-14T12:09:10-04:00

The two main risk associated with removing your tattoo is the risk of scarring, or the risk of skin discoloration.

The risk of scarring at TakeTatt is less than 1%. We use new lasers, and ample training & experience.

The risk of skin discoloration is different for each person and increases the darker your skin type. Across the board TakeTatt sees less than 2% of tattoos with any skin discoloration.
